Bodegas Alvear

Throughout its 280 years of existence Alvear has conserved the family character imposed by the eight generations which have gradually combined tradition and modernity to build the company up to what it is today.

The bodega, typical of Cordoba and the oldest in Andalusia, possesses extensive vineyards in some of the most famous winegrowing areas of the Sierra de Montilla. They are all planted with a variety of Pedro Ximénez grape which serves as the sole basis for Alvear’s sweet wines, Finos, Olorosos and Amontillados.

Alvear Pedro Ximénez wines are considered legendary by connoisseurs. Spanish and foreign wine writers coincide in describing them as one of the true enological wonders of our time.

Used in the recipe “Huelva white shrimp sashimi with wasabi “mazamorra” by Kisko García. His collaboration with Bodegas Alvear in Cordoba has helped him to assume the modesty of a company which makes wine and which is prepared to throw in its lot with its fellow countryman Kisko García. A great responsibility when shaping the future of a great bodega and using its wines in his dishes.
